Scalp massage for dry scalp
If you observe dry and white flakes on the scalp of your head, you can treat your scalp with a gentle scalp massage. Try to stimulate the fingertips on the scalp while applying shampoo, hot oil, or conditioning treatment for your scalp. Massage these products according to your personal choice gently and not scratch the dry flakes from the scalp.
You can also use medicated dandruff shampoos for treating dry scalp. Try the shampoos having ingredients like zinc pyrithione, ketoconazole, and selenium oxide. These are the active ingredients that clean up the flaky, dry, and irritating scalp. Use them once or twice a week with a moisturizing shampoo too. Deep conditioning treatments
A dry scalp is seen when the hair follicles do not produce enough natural oil, sebum. It leads to itching, and dull hairs give the hairs a flaky look. It is the time when hairs and scalp need deep conditioning treatment. This treatment can be home-based and product-based too. If it is a home-based treatment, use warm oil for deep conditioning. It can help to moisturize the scalp when used twice a week.
Moreover, excessive deep conditioning also makes the hair dry and brittle. If using a deep conditioning product, look at the pack and instructions and use it according to it. If the products are left for a longer time on the scalp, it might result in a greasy scalp rather than moisturizing it. It can make the hairs dull and flaky, too, leading to more itch and dry scalp.
Using shampoos: Sometimes, dry, flaky scalp is the result of excessive shampoo and hair treatments. Use a shampoo made up of gentle formula and avoid using shampoo daily. It is advisable not to use a hot shower for washing hairs as it results in a dry scalp. Moreover, prevent mousse hairsprays and blow dryers, as they provide lesser chances for the hair to recover and heal.
