What is a Spa?
The International Spa Association defines spas as "places devoted to enhancing overall well-being through a variety of professional services that encourage the renewal of mind, body, and spirit.” A spa offers many different services, ranging from facials and massages to pedicures and manicures, and much more.
Types of Spas
There are a variety of spas you could visit. Day spas, destination spas, resort, and hotel spas are some of the commonly known spas.
1. Day Spas
At a bare minimum, day spas offer facials and massages on a day-visit basis. In addition, traditional day spas offer more services like body massages, sauna, nail care, and steam rooms.
2. Destination Spas
Destination spas usually have an age restriction and require customers to stay at least 2 to 3 nights. They work to promote and encourage people's overall mental and physical wellness by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
3. Resort and Hotel Spas
Resorts and hotels started offering spa services for their guests to reap the benefits whilst also enjoying swimming, tennis, pool, and golf. In addition, most resorts and hotel spas offer exercise classes to their guests at a fixed fee.
4. Mineral Spring Spas
Mineral spring spas offer an on-site source of natural mineral, thermal, or seawater. This is used in their hydrotherapy treatments.
Hydrotherapy is a part of alternative medicine and physiotherapy where water is used for pain relief and treatment.
5. Medical Spas
Medical spas are run under the supervision of a medical doctor. Laser hair removal, skin lightening, chemical peels, and photo facials are some of the services offered by such spas.
6. Club Spas
Club spas are targeted towards the fitness of people. They are usually part of a fitness club and offer their services on a daily basis.
Choosing a Spa
Most people choose a spa based on their budget-friendliness and their location. However, there are other things that you should take into consideration when deciding on which spa to visit. For instance, you want to make sure the people taking care of you at the spa are friendly and caring. The staff should be attentive and considerate of their customers. One way of determining whether the staff is well-trained and hospitable is by talking to them over the phone. If they’re not cordial to you over the phone, they most likely won’t be able to care for you when you go in for your appointment. So, cross them off the list and try to find a better place to go to. Ask a friend for recommendations if needed.
Choose your treatments
Selecting a spa treatment can be quite confusing. First, a facial would help deep-cleanse the dirt and grime out of your face and neck, leaving you feeling fresh and rejuvenated. Next, a full-body massage would relax all of your muscles and improve blood circulation. This will help you get better sleep at night. Finally, a pedicure and a manicure are going to leave your hands and feet smooth, giving your nails a pop of colour.
Enjoy your experience
The various spa treatments will help to de-stress, letting you unwind and relax as your mind clears. General aches and pains will be relieved, and your blood circulation will improve, helping your body in fighting off illnesses. In addition, the treatments will leave your skin glowing and radiant, which would help boost your confidence. So, book an appointment and spoil yourself. You deserve to be pampered and taken care of like any other person.
